Prostate Cancer Foundation Appoints Two Executives to Oversee Communications and Development 
Karen D. Stone, Senior Vice President of Development and Sarah Z. Evans, Vice President of Communications, Join the PCF’s Fight Against Prostate Cancer             

Santa Monica, CA - July 11, 2005 - The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) has announced the appointment of Karen D. Stone as Senior Vice President, Development and Sarah Z. Evans as Vice President, Communications. Ms. Stone was most recently the executive vice president for the Mercy Hospital Foundation at the Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. She brings extensive experience and a successful track record in fundraising to her position as senior vice president of development, having served for over 30 years in both higher education and health care fundraising. Ms. Evans was most recently the founder and vice president of the social marketing and lifestyle division at CarryOn Communication. She brings with her more than a dozen years of experience with non-profit organizations, fortune 500 companies and the federal government.

In Ms. Stone’s new position at the PCF, she will be responsible for overseeing the major gift program, development of potential donors and planned giving as well as leading a development staff. In Ms. Evans new position, she will be responsible for expanding PCF’s media and public relations programs, as well as overseeing the organization’s marketing and public affairs strategies.

About Ms. Stone
Prior to the PCF, Ms. Stone was the Executive Vice President for the Mercy Hospital Foundation at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. Before that, she spent six years as Director of the University of Chicago’s Western Regional Alumni Development office in Los Angeles and 14 years at UCLA as Associate Director of Development in several leadership positions. While at UCLA, she co-founded the innovative and pioneering Women and Philanthropy program, which recognizes and promotes women’s leadership and philanthropy at UCLA. Ms. Stone received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago and her MBA from Pepperdine University. Ms. Stone has one grown son and resides in Pacific Palisades.

About Ms. Evans
Ms. Evans has worked with both non-profit and for-profit organizations, managing brand strategies for Mattel and Procter & Gamble and leading communications programs for the American Cancer Society, The Annenberg Foundation, Rock the Vote and the Tiger Woods Foundation, among others. Prior to joining CarryOn, she served as vice president at Porter Novelli, a top ten global public relations firm, in the youth and social marketing practice areas. In addition, Ms. Evans has extensive experience in Washington D.C., serving as the director of marketing for the Peace Corps and the press secretary of the National School-to-Work Office, an agency overseen by the U.S. Departments of Education and Labor. She also served as director of public relations and marketing for the Girl Scouts.

Ms. Evans is a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication, and was a weekly panelist for four years on a live, national public affairs television show. She has appeared as a spokesperson on CNN, National Public Radio and local network affiliates. Ms. Evans received her B.A. degree, with honors in political science, from Boston College.
