Washington Nationals Home Runs: 1 |
| Player Rep: Nick Johnson |
First baseman, Nick Johnson, is entering his sixth season with the Washington Nationals. In 2006, Johnson had one of the best offensive seasons in the National League by ending the season with a .290 hitting average with 46 doubles, 23 home runs, 77 RBI, 11 stolen bases, and 110 walks in 147 games. He posted career highs in almost every offensive category.
Johnson signed a three year contract with the Nationals just before the 2006 season that would extend through the 2009 season.Due to injuries, Johnson unfortunately missed most of the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but is looking to return for the 2009 season as the starting first baseman.

| Player Rep: Ryan Zimmerman |
The third baseman began his major league stint with the Washington Nationals on September 1, 2005.During his first season with the Nationals, he became a local favorite of the fans because of his late-inning defensive ability. In the 2006 season, Zimmerman exceeded the expectations of the Club by hitting 20 home runs with 110 RBI.He went on to finish the 2006 season with 612 at-bats, .288 batting average, .352 OBP, 84 runs scored, 176 hits, 47 doubles, 3 triples, and 11 steals.Zimmerman finished second in the 2006 National League Rookie of the Year voting to Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez, which was the closest vote for Rookie of the Year ever.

| PCF Team Manager: Manny Acta |
Manuel Elias Acta was hired on November 14, 2006 as the manager of the Washington Nationals, and is the youngest manager entering the 2009 season.Prior to 2006, Acta started his managerial debut in the Dominican Republic’s Dominican Winter League, managing the Tigres del Licey from 2002 to 2004. During that time, Acta ended up winning the Caribbean Series in 2003.He also managed the Dominican Republic team at the 2006 World Baseball Classic.
Even though the 2006 through 2008 seasons have not been as great, Acta’s positive attitude, systematic ideas and concepts, and motivational techniques, will show much improvement for the Nationals in the upcoming seasons.
