Player Rep: Brian Giles

Sixteen-year Major League veteran and San Diego Padre, Brian Giles is a two-time All Star and has a career batting average of .294, 285 home runs, 1,055 RBI, and 1,157 walks in 1,786 games. The right fielder was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 17th round of the 1989 amateur draft, and played for the Indians from 1995-1998. He would later be traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he played from 1999-2003.

Giles was finally traded to his hometown team, the Padres, on August 23, 2003, for Jason Bay, Oliver Perez, and minor leaguer Corey Stewart.

Bud BlackOn November 8, 2006, Bud Black signed a contract naming him the manager of the San Diego Padres through the 2009 season. In Black’s first year, the 2007 season, the Padres ended with an 89 - 74 record, which was the most wins for the Padres since 1998.

Prior to working with the Padres, Black was the pitching coach from 2000 to 2006, for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He was an integral part in the Angels success in the two American League West titles (2004 and 2005) and the 2002 World Series championship against the San Francisco Giants.
