Kansas City Royal, Jose Guillen perhaps experienced his best season during his 2004 campaign with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. During that year, Guillen hit .294, with 27 home runs, and 104 RBI. In December 2007, Guillen signed a three year contract deal with the Royals and currently plays right field for the team.

In 2008, Mark Teahen started for his fourth consecutive Opening Day at outfield, and played in a career-high 149 games. Teahen also set career highs with 572 at bats, equaled a career best with 31 doubles, hit 15 home runs, and appeared at 5 different positions.
Teahen obtained dual Canadian-American citizenship since his father is from Ontario. With his citizenship status, Teahen played in the 2009 World Baseball Classic for team Canada.

Trey Hillman was hired as the manager of the Kansas City Royals on October 19, 2007.Even though the Royals ended up fourth in the American League, the Royals posted their best record since 2003, 75-87.Prior to managing the Royals, Hillman was invited to Japan to manage the Pacific League’s Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in 2003.While in Japan, his team won the Pacific League Championship in 2006 and 2007, as well as the Japan Series and Asia Series in 2006.
Due to his success in Japan, Hillman currently has a restaurant in Hokkaido named after him called, Hillman’s Hang out, which is an American bar and grill.
