Golf
Professional golf is a big supporter of the efforts of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
The PCF is working with Arnold Palmer and Arnie's Army Battles Prostate Cancer. These one-day events are built around a closest-to-the-pin contest on a par-3 hole. Banners, posters, pin flags and other collateral materials carry the program logo and all golfers are encouraged to join Arnie's Army to help win the battle against prostate cancer.
The Prostate Cancer Foundation and One Man Scramble, Inc. have teamed up to fight prostate cancer by raising money for research through a new event called the One Man Scramble™.
In addition, prostate cancer survivors Arnold Palmer, Jim Colbert and Raymond Floyd urge golf fans to make pledges of $1 or more for every birdie made by their favorite Champions Tour players throughout the season. Since 1998, the Champions Tour for the Cure has raised more than $4.5 million to support prostate cancer research.
With the Eagles for a Cure program, the Starr Foundation will donate $100 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation for every eagle made during the final two rounds of each Adams Golf Pro Series tournament.
The PCF also has several events throughout the country that raise funds for prostate cancer research. These events include the Bruce Alan Hupfer Memorial in Prairie Grove, Illinois; Golfers Against Cancer in Houston, Texas; the John Kahrhoff Memorial Tournament in St. Louis, Missouri; Dunwoody Senior Men’s Club in Dunwoody, Georgia; Country Club of Roswell in Roswell, Georgia; Greenbriar Golf Association in Monroe Township, New Jersey; and the Napa Swing for the Cure in Napa, California. For more information about these events or to start your own event, please call the PCF at 800.757.2873.
