| U.S. Cancer Rate-Death Rate Combo Drops for 1st Time |
|
During the last week of November 2008, the American Cancer Society released encouraging numbers about the lowering of U.S. cancer death rates. It was reported on national evening news programs that the death rate from prostate cancer was down an additional 1 percent. This is beyond the 30 percent reduction already achieved since the founding of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Although slightly more than 28,000 American men are predicted to die of prostate cancer in 2008, these numbers mean that more than 12,000 more men are surviving each year compared to 15 years ago.
