SANTA MONICA, CA/March 3, 2010—Responding to continued debate over PSA screening, and today’s American Cancer Society statement, the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) reiterated its position that PSA screening remains a valuable tool, in combination with other tools, for identifying potential prostate disease, including cancer. It is also calling for more reasoned discussion that empowers patients and their physicians and improves patients’ understanding of PSA data, prostate cancer and treatment options.

SANTA MONICA, CA/January 6, 2010— The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) announced that will fund at least 10 new Creativity and 20 new multi-year Young Investigator Awards in the first half of 2010. These grants will support innovative research ideas and encourage new ideas from some of the brightest young minds in the field of cancer research. This new round of funding will support many projects that would otherwise be left unfunded due to cutbacks in federal funding and the global recession.

Step 2A CURE Joins PGA Tour to Promote Health and Raise Funds for Prostate Cancer
Program To Be Featured at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship October 29 – November 1 in Sonoma

SANTA MONICA, CA/October 20, 2009—Step 2A CURE, a healthy and fun way for PGA tour spectators to raise awareness and money for prostate cancer, premieres this month at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship at the Sonoma Golf Club in California.  During the four-day PGA golf tournament, October 29 through November 1, spectators will be able to sign up, make a pledge and follow tour players through the 18-hole course during competition.

Gary Dicovitsky to Head Major Gifts Program at the Prostate Cancer Foundation
Veteran Executive Named Executive Vice President of Development

SANTA MONICA, CA/October 6, 2009—Gary Dicovitsky, a twenty-six year veteran in philanthropic fundraising, has joined the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) as executive vice president of development. In his new position, he is in charge of leading the PCF’s major gifts program and other development efforts. Dicovitsky has led successful campaigns at some of the nation’s leading organizations including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the California Institute of Technology and Pomona College. He has also managed fundraising efforts at Princeton University, University of Virginia and Dartmouth College.

SANTA MONICA, CA/September 24, 2009—Nearly of 300 of the world’s leading researchers focused on the problem of prostate cancer will begin a three-day meeting today to discuss the latest scientific data and breakthroughs in prostate cancer.  The meeting, held in Incline Village at Lake Tahoe in Nevada, is the16th Scientific Retreat sponsored by the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF).

SANTA MONICA, CA/September 22, 2009—Greg and Lauren Glassman, founders of CrossFit, Inc., are providing crucial funding for the battle against prostate cancer. In acknowledgement of CrossFit’s annual Fight Gone Bad event that has raised more than $1 million since 2006, the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) has announced it will name one of its Creativity Awards the Greg and Lauren Glassman Grant for Early Detection Biomarker Research.

Publication offers Facts and Guidance for Hardest-Hit Male Population and Features Personal thoughts from Charlie Wilson, D.L. Hughley and Snoop Dogg

SANTA MONICA, CA/September 18, 2009—A new guide, Straight Talk for African-American Men and their Families, is now available from the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF).  It was produced in alliance with Charlie Wilson, famed R&B singer and recent prostate cancer survivor. African-American men are 1.6 times more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 2.4 times more likely to die from it than Caucasian men.
