With backing from the PCF, Arul Chinnaiyan, M.D., Ph.D. has discovered how 'fused' genes can turn on the switch that lead to prostate cancer. Dr. Chinnaiyan has won the 2008 American Association for Cancer Research Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cancer Research.
Enthusiastic Response to PCF 2008 Challenge Awards

The 2008 PCF Challenge Awards launched a global response from prostate cancer researchers. Medical research centers from 11 countries and 6 continents submitted over 110 proposals. Nearly half (55) came from multi-institutional partnerships. Projects covered include biomarkers, gene fusion, androgen signaling, predictive models, nutrition, metabolism and survivorship, epigenetics, immunotheraphy, and stem cells.
