Creativity Awards
The Prostate Cancer Foundation Creativity Awards are a funding mechanism for supporting transformational prostate cancer research through development of creative research ideas with high potential and no current funding. We seek applications from individuals proposing high-risk/high-reward concepts that if successful could provide the basis for dramatically reducing death and suffering from prostate cancer. Creativity awards are intended to bridge the gap between an idea and the results necessary to justify longer term and more significant funding.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is pleased to announce a funding mechanism for supporting transformational prostate cancer research through the development of high-potential creative research ideas that are not funded by other mechanisms. This round of awards will focus on funding treatment science: investigations of new ideas in man or laboratory support of a high impact clinical investigation. We seek applications from individuals proposing high-risk/high-reward concepts that, if successful, could be the basis for a new treatment for advanced prostate cancer. The awards are intended to bridge the gap between existing research ideas and results that will justify more significant, multi-year funding.
Treatment Science research with a high probability of near-term patient benefit will be preferred in the following topic areas:
- metabolism/adiposity/nutrition;
- molecular imaging;
- co-targeting tumor micro-environment
- credentialing a new “first-in-field” molecular treatment target;
- enhancement of anti-neoplastic immune effects;
- “first-in-field” systemic treatment not listed above.
These awards will cover direct research costs only, will be two years in duration, and will provide $150,000 per year in support.
Application Guidelines
1. Eligibility: Investigators representing non-profit academic research centers worldwide are eligible to apply. Investigators from for-profit companies and government-sponsored institutions, i.e. NIH, are ineligible.
2. Coversheet: To be completed online by the Principal Investigator when submitting a proposal at www.pcfscience.org.
3. Research Proposal: The proposal should describe the research to which this award would be applied if funded. The proposal includes both the narrative text and any preliminary data in support of the proposal and should not exceed five pages in length. This five page limit applies only to the proposal. A list of references or bibliography of works cited will not count against the five page limit.
4. One page statement of originality: This statement will define the scientific uniqueness of this proposal. We seek new and never-before tested ideas, not derivatives of ongoing investigations. Recycled ideas will be rejected. The one page statement is in addition to the research proposal and will not count against the proposal’s 5 page limit.
5. Budget:Include an annual budget for the proposal. PCF will cover only direct costs. The budget can be prepared using NIH Budget forms like PHS 398; however, use of these forms is not mandatory.
6. CV and supportive publications: Submit a 4-page NIH Biosketch for each investigator. Include a list of relevant publications.
7. Format: Components 3 – 6 above should be compiled and submitted as a single pdf file.
Submit proposal online to: http://www.pcfscience.org
