Dan Fogelberg Lapel Pin
A beautiful lapel pin honoring musician Dan Fogelberg, designed by his wife Jean exclusively for the Prostate Cancer Foundation is now available. After his diagnosis Dan encouraged other men to become better informed, and to get tested, saving lives in the process. He lost his own battle with prostate cancer on December 16, 2007.
The PCF is deeply grateful to Dan and Jean Fogelberg for their dedicated support of prostate cancer education and testing.
The PCF and the American Cancer Society believe that the PSA test saves lives. All men over 50 should get their PSA checked annually and have a DRE (digital rectal exam) by their doctor. If there are any risk factors, such as a single first-degree relative with prostate cancer or if you are African-American, PSA tests and DREs should start annually at 45. Tests should begin at 40 if more than one risk factor is involved.

Jean Fogelberg explains the symbolic elements of the pin:
"I chose the Scottish sword because Dan was half Scots-Irish; he fought a valiant battle against cancer; and he was my knight in shining armor (many of his fans felt the same way).
The Fleur-de-lis (flower of life) was used in Scottish heraldry, and is said to symbolize many things, but among them: purity, light, life, and hope.
The electric guitar is a rendering of one of Dan's favorite Stratocasters, used on stage over many years.
And deep forest green and gold were Dan's favorite color combination."
