The Prostate Cancer Foundation/Gillette Men’s Health Survey
The Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Gillette Prostate Cancer Challenge present the results of the Men’s Health Survey, a national public opinion survey that explores health behaviors and awareness of prostate cancer and other cancers among Americans.
Results from the survey, released just before Father's Day, show that almost a third of men and women don’t know the basic facts about prostate cancer, a disease that will afflict 1 in 6 American men. And approximately a quarter of men have never talked with their doctors about their risks for cancer—of the prostate or any kind.
Yet if the women in their lives urged them to, the survey finds, more than 70 percent of men would talk with their doctors about prostate cancer.
To help women know where to begin, the Prostate Cancer Foundation created an Introduction to Prostate Cancer Kit, which includes:
-
Conversation Tips, to make it easy to start talking about prostate cancer
-
Introduction to Prostate Cancer, a guide to the basics about the disease, and
-
FAQs About Prostate Cancer.
