PCF PLANNED GIVING: PAYING IT FORWARD

Arthur “Art” Ford Krueger, Jr., a retired banker from Youngsville, NC, has been deeply affected by cancer. After losing his mother to chronic lymphocytic leukemia and his wife to brain cancer, Art himself was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016. Art sought care at the Duke Cancer Center where he opted for hormone therapy and radiation as his best course of treatment.

“It is important for me to give back and hopefully make a difference in some small way.”

By 2018, he was put on active surveillance however, three years later, his prostate cancer had progressed to stage four. He started androgen deprivation therapy and embraced lifestyle changes regarding diet, exercise, and proper rest. Currently, his PSA and testosterone levels are undetectable and his cancer is in remission.

Throughout his cancer journey, Art turned to the Prostate Cancer Foundation as a source of support. He recognized that PCF was an invaluable resource for information on science, treatment, patient outcomes, and physical and mental health. He appreciated the articles and webinars that PCF made available to the public and valued PCF’s focus on investing in the most cutting-edge research.

Inspired to advance PCF’s mission, Art decided to designate 25% of the residual from his estate to be donated to PCF at his death. He believes in paying it forward through financial support as well as volunteerism. He serves as a mentor with Imerman Angels, which provides personalized cancer patient support, and commits energy and donations to other charities including Deaf Services, Rotary, American Red Cross, and the ARC. “It is important for me to give back and hopefully make a difference in some small way,” Art says about his legacy gift.

Beneficiary Designations

Certain assets, such as an IRA, 401(k), and life insurance policy, are not included in your will. These are called non-probate assets, and you must plan your beneficiaries for them separately. Use this online tool to organize your assets and even name the Prostate Cancer Foundation as a beneficiary of one or more!
