The Prostate Cancer Foundation Names Three New Directors
Top Entertainment, Consumer Products and Energy Executives Join the Board of World’s Largest Prostate Cancer Philanthropy      

Santa Monica, Calif. - March 31, 2005 - The Prostate Cancer Foundation today announced the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors: Jeffrey A. Marcus, partner at Crestview Capital Partners and former president and CEO of AMFM, Inc.; J. Gary Shansby, founder of the The Shansby Group and former chairman and CEO of Shaklee Corporation; and Lester H. Smith, CEO of Smith Energy Company.

“We are very fortunate to have Jeff Marcus, Gary Shansby and Lester Smith join the Prostate Cancer Foundation’s Board of Directors,” commented Leslie D. Michelson, vice chairman and CEO of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. “All three men have had highly successful business careers and have received well-deserved recognition for their support of numerous philanthropies. We look forward to benefiting from their considerable expertise.”

About the New Members
Mr. Jeffrey A. Marcus is a leader and innovator in the entertainment and media sector. During his tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer of AMFM, Inc., it became one of the nation’s largest radio broadcasting companies with over 460 radio stations reaching over 60 million listeners weekly. In addition, Mr. Marcus has over 30 years of experience in the cable television business, having founded and served as chairman and CEO of Marcus Cable. The company became the nation’s largest privately held cable television operator prior to its sale to Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen in 1998. Mr. Marcus currently serves as a partner of Crestview Capital Partners, L.P., a private equity firm.

Mr. Marcus has served on the Board of Directors of Brinker International, the Board of Visitors of Trinity College at Duke University, the Board of Visitors of Columbia College at Columbia University and the Board of the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. He has also served on the boards of several community and charitable organizations including the Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas Symphony and the Anti-Defamation League. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Mr. J. Gary Shansby is a well-respected leader in the consumer products industry with more than 40 years of experience. He co-founded and serves as the managing director of The Shansby Group, which has invested in brand name firms including The Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookie Company, the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company, Met-Rx Nutrition, and Spic and Span. Formerly, Mr. Shansby served as the chairman and CEO of Shaklee Corporation, where he was responsible for the company’s transformation from a small family business into a Fortune 500 multi-national corporation. Previously, he was a partner at the management consulting firm of Booz, Allen & Hamilton.

In addition, Mr. Shansby is chairman of Presidio Beverage Company, LLC, and has held positions on numerous boards and commissions, including the Board of Directors of The Sharper Image, Board of Directors of the California Economic Development Corporation, chairman of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, trustee of the National Symphony Orchestra and commissioner of the U.S. Trade Advisory Commission. Mr. Shansby endowed the J. Gary Shansby Chair in Marketing Strategy at the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Business, the University of California, Berkeley. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Washington.

Mr. Lester H. Smith is a well-known Texas energy executive with extensive investments in oil and gas exploration and production, minerals and timber in 22 states. Mr. Smith is CEO of Houston-based Smith Energy Company and is also a partner of SG Interests.

Mr. Smith is a trustee of Baylor College of Medicine and with his wife, Sue, founded Baylor’s Honor Your Father Campaign for Prostate Cancer Research. At Baylor, Mr. Smith also serves as chairman of both the Prostate Cancer Research Initiative and the Partnership for Bladder Cancer Research. He is also a trustee of the Houston Museum of Natural Science, board member of the Holocaust Museum Houston and of The Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston. The Lester and Sue Smith Foundation support numerous non-profit organizations throughout the Houston area including The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the American Heart Association, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
