June 15, 2008

Hitting home runs for dads across America on Father's Day in support of prostate cancer research, Major League players launched a momentous thirty-five home runs Sunday, as the 2008 edition of Home Run Challenge (HRC) came to a successful end. HRC Player representatives: Alex Rodriguez, Carlos DelgadoMike Cameron and Brandon Inge were among the stars that brought the final tally of home runs to 143 for this year's Home Run Challenge.

Alex Rodriguez's three-run homer in a New York Yankees' 13-0 victory over the Houston Astros, gave the slugger his 185th as a Yankee, tying him 16th on the franchise's all-time list. Rodriguez's home run would also place him in a tie for second all-time on the HRC home run leader list with 13.

Mike Cameron helped snap a six-game losing streak in interleague play when he hit a two-run homer, as the Milwaukee Brewers edged the Minnesota Twins 4-2. Giving Cameron 10 home runs for on the season, the outfielder's long ball to deep left center was his second of this year's Home Run Challenge.
